2011, aged 56
The Rejuvenation Marathon is about a battle of wills - my will against the power of the aging process and even death itself. Hopeless contest? Well maybe, but I have been winning since 2010, winning by getting stronger, healthier and lounger looking. This is no small thing for someone of 59 who was in very poor shape to begin with (see my youtube channel for a selection of clips made of the last two years).
What is different about my approach to the battle with old age? I don't just fight a 'rearguard action', trying to 'slow the inevitable', 'look after yourself and try not to worry about it', these methods always lose in ny other arena and so, will certainly fail this toughest of all fights.
I order to fight one must face one's opponent and refuse to accept defeat. That is what I did 5 years ago and for next 3 years I fought aging every day. I won some battles, but I lost more than I won, I was getting older sicker, fast and looked like my final defeat was inevitable, but that was when I turned the tables on my foe. On 1st Oct 2010 I put a new form of mental and physical training into practice and from that day I started to win, week by week, month by month, stronger and younger.
I did this by systematically increase the power of my will to resist death. When I say 'will power' I do not just mean your conscious will, which is comes from the conscious mind and is reliant on concentration. Anything that relys on concentration will fail in this contest, because it is 24/7 - death never sleeps. So, how do you continue to resist something even when your mind is too exhausted to concentrate?
This is where the deep emotions come into play. Unlike thoughts, deep emotions, when focused will gradually become attached to the object of attention, and over time this attachment tends to become stronger. This what gives our consistency in face of the constant shifting of superficial emotions.
Deep emotions are also self reinforcing, this means that longer you feel them the more powerful they become. The key to rejuvenation lies in detaching the deep emotions from the image of one as old and instead attaching it to an image of youth.
Once this is done you have a vehicle that is powerful enough to take on the angel of death herself with a chance of victory instead of the certainty of defeat.
